Westpac

Westpac is one of the big Australian banks that people use for everyday accounts, cards, loans and branch access. By our assessment, its strength is the familiar full-service setup: it can handle the ordinary banking work without forcing customers into a narrow product range. The price of that reach is the usual large-bank friction, with fees, policy rules and the occasional slog of dealing with a huge institution. In practice it feels like a mature bank rather than a sleek newcomer, and much of the experience now lives in digital banking rather than at a counter. Compared with smaller banks it offers more breadth and staying power; compared with app-only challengers it is less nimble but more complete. Westpac is a reasonable fit for people who want a mainstream bank with branches behind it, and the day-to-day use is mostly about moving money and managing accounts.
