Bunq is the app-first Dutch bank for people who want account control, card settings, and day-to-day money handling without a branch in the picture. By our assessment, its best point is the clean mobile experience and the way it puts features like budgeting and multiple sub-accounts directly in the app. The trade-off is that a mostly digital bank can feel thinner if someone wants face-to-face support or the full comfort of a traditional branch network. In practice, Bunq asks for comfort with apps and a bit of self-service discipline, because that is where most of the work happens. It sits closer to the newer European challenger banks than to old-style retail banking, and the Astrina note says Netherlands.
