The useful trade-off in toPhonetics Transcription is that it turns written English into phonetic symbols, so pronunciation can be examined without relying only on ordinary spelling. That makes it a focused study aid for English learners and teachers, and more specialised than a general dictionary. By our assessment, its strength is showing how a word is pronounced on the page; it is not the same as hearing spoken language or getting live pronunciation feedback.
