tardigrain

Granular synthesis is the defining idea behind tardigrain: it reshapes recorded sound into small fragments that can be rearranged and sustained. That makes it a music-making instrument for sound design and unusual textures rather than a straightforward playback or recording app. By our assessment, its strength is the amount of sonic variation this approach allows, while shaping a coherent result takes experimentation and attention to controls. A useful sound depends on choosing and adjusting the grains.
