The useful trick in studiomux is routing sound and MIDI between an iOS device and a Mac over a wired connection, so a phone or tablet can join a computer-based music setup. That makes it more of a bridge for musicians using a digital audio workstation than a standalone instrument app. It can help bring mobile music tools into a Mac recording session, but the setup asks for compatible devices, a connection, and some comfort with audio routing. By our assessment, that focused link between mobile apps and desktop music software is a real strength, while the extra setup is less appealing for casual, self-contained playing. When the Mac-and-iOS setup is not part of the workflow, studiomux has little to connect.
