impcat

impcat is built for people who want to mock up miniature wargaming units before they ever touch paint. Its main strength is the colour layering and visual planning: you can test schemes, compare parts, and see how a model will read once assembled. By our assessment, that makes it a practical tool for hobbyists who care about scheme decisions more than about freehand art. The trade-off is that it stays in the planning stage; it does not replace brushes, sprays, or the patience of real model work. In use it is the sort of app that rewards fiddling, because small tweaks change the look a lot. Compared with generic image editors, impcat is much more specific to miniatures, which is exactly why it has a place. It suits painters and kit builders who want to experiment before committing paint to plastic.
