iMPC for iPhone gives the MPC-style beatmaking workflow to an iPhone, so it is for people who want pads, sampling and quick sequence building on a phone. By our assessment, its best feature is that familiar MPC feel in a compact form, which makes finger drumming and looping ideas fast to sketch. The trade-off is the usual one for mobile music tools: a small screen, a touch surface and less room than a dedicated hardware groovebox. In practice it rewards short, hands-on sessions and enough patience to work around the phone interface. Compared with bigger desktop production software, iMPC for iPhone is lighter and more immediate, but it stops well short of a full studio replacement.
