ZDF

ZDF is the sort of app people reach for when they want broadcaster-made TV and clips in one place, not a maze of unrelated streaming catalogs. By our assessment, its real strength is that it comes from a public broadcaster with a clear identity, so the material usually feels organized around programs rather than algorithms. The downside is familiar for broadcaster apps: access, catch-up windows, and the mix of live and on-demand material can feel tied to what the channel chooses to carry. In practice it is more like a channel companion than a giant streaming platform, with a layout that makes sense if you already know what ZDF offers. Against broad entertainment apps, it is narrower and more institutional, and that is exactly why some people will prefer it.
