A sung melody is the starting point: Voice Band turns vocal input into instrument-like parts, making the voice itself the way to sketch an arrangement. That gives it a clear role for people who want to build a musical idea without first playing every part on an instrument. By our assessment, its strongest point is how directly it connects singing with arranging. The trade-off is that the result depends on a steady pitch and rhythm; a vocal line has to carry the musical information the app needs. It is a more specialized tool than a general recording app, and it does not replace the control of a keyboard or a full music workstation. The basic idea is easy to grasp, but shaping a convincing part still takes attention to phrasing. A clean vocal take gives the app more to work with, while an uncertain one leaves less room for a polished arrangement.
