United Airlines is the airline app for people who fly United and need boarding passes, trip updates, seat selection, and reservation management in one place. By our assessment, its best feature is the practical airport stuff: mobile check-in, digital boarding passes, gate changes, baggage info, and tools that make a flying day less clumsy. The trade-off is that airline apps are naturally tied to airline rules, so what you can do depends on the booking and the trip details. In use it is mostly a utility app with a lot of time-sensitive screens, not a place for browsing or lingering. Compared with general travel apps, it is narrower but more operational; compared with the airport website, it is usually the more natural place to keep the trip moving. United Airlines is for people already flying that airline, especially when the day is busy and the gate keeps changing. It is not trying to be a broad travel planner, and that narrowness is part of the point.
