Top Hat - Better Learning

Turning a lecture into a series of questions and responses is what sets Top Hat - Better Learning apart from a digital textbook alone. The platform is used in higher education, where instructors can bring polls, quizzes, discussions, attendance and course materials into class. Students can answer on a device while the lesson is underway, making participation part of the teaching rather than a separate study session. By our assessment, that mix works well when an instructor actively uses its interactive tools. The experience varies by course: some classes may rely on only a portion of the platform, and students still need to follow the instructor’s setup to find materials and activities. It brings classroom participation and course content into one place, but the instructor determines how much of that students actually use.
