Timetracks - Slit-Scan Camera asks for a bit of attention, because slit-scan effects are not the same as an ordinary camera app and the result depends on movement and timing. By our assessment, that is also what makes it interesting: it turns motion into streaked, layered images that a normal phone camera does not make on its own. The downside is that the look is specialized, so it will not replace a standard camera for everyday snapshots. In practice this kind of app can be playful and unpredictable, with experiments that fail and a few that look strikingly odd in a good way. Timetracks - Slit-Scan Camera sits well outside mainstream camera apps, and that narrowness is part of the appeal rather than a flaw.
