Learning to hear and distinguish speech sounds is the job suggested by Sounds of Speech, an education app rather than a general language course. By our assessment, that focused subject can be useful for pronunciation study, but it does not replace vocabulary building, grammar work, or conversation practice. The work still depends on listening closely and repeating sounds beyond the screen.
