SessionBand Soul Jazz Funk 1 is a music app built around backing tracks in soul, jazz and funk, with the number in the title marking it as part of a named pack rather than a score or level. By our assessment, its main strength is giving a ready rhythm-and-chord bed that musicians can play over without setting up a full band. The downside is the same thing that makes it handy: it is tied to a specific style family, so it will not suit every rehearsal or idea. In practice these apps are about picking a groove, looping it, and staying inside the arrangement while you work on melody or timing. SessionBand Soul Jazz Funk 1 sits in the band-in-a-box style of accompaniment tools, not in the more open end of music production. The name says enough about the ceiling: this is backing material first, not a general songwriting app.
