SUMMER BREEZE Open Air is a festival app for people going to a metal and rock event, so its job is to keep schedules, stages, maps, and lineup details in one pocket. By our assessment, that is exactly where it earns its keep: festival apps are at their best when they reduce paper programs and last-minute confusion. The downside is the usual festival-app one, which is that usefulness depends on the venue layout and how much the user relies on the phone while moving around a crowded site. In practice it is a coordination tool more than a content app, with quick checks during the day and less need once the set times are memorized. Compared with a general music app, it is narrower but far more tied to the real event on the ground. It suits people who are actually at the festival, and the app turns into dead weight once the wristband comes off.
