Remoter: Remote Desktop (VNC) is for people who need to reach another machine and work on it as if they were sitting in front of it. By our assessment, its real strength is the plain VNC job: remote control, keyboard and mouse input, and the ability to manage a desktop without being there. The trade-off is that remote-desktop tools ask for a stable network and a setup that is not always friendly to beginners. In practice they feel functional rather than charming, because the point is getting work done on the far machine. It sits with utility software, not consumer apps, and it makes most sense when you already know why you need VNC.
