Planimeter — Measure Land Area is the kind of utility that makes sense when someone needs a quick area estimate from a map rather than a full surveying workflow. By our assessment, its real value is in the simple job the name says out loud: tracing or measuring land area without dragging in a bigger GIS package. The trade-off is obvious too, because this sort of app depends on the quality of the map image or outline you feed it, and that limits how exact it can be. In practice it is the sort of tool that feels small, direct, and a little technical, with less room for polish than for a clear measurement result. It sits below professional surveying software and above rough guesswork, and the catalogue’s Productivity label fits that narrow use. The limit is that it does one job and stays there.
