By our assessment, its real appeal is the game layer: it tries to make walking feel tracked and slightly rewarded, so people who like streaks and simple goals get more out of it than from a plain pedometer. The trade-off is obvious too: if the game part does not motivate you, the app is left with little more than step counting, which many phones and wearables already do.
