OB-Xd AUv3 Synth

Its distinctive draw is the Oberheim OB-X-style virtual-analog sound, offered as an instrument that can run inside compatible iOS music apps. OB-Xd AUv3 Synth gives keyboard players and producers a synthesizer voice to use in a track rather than a standalone recording setup. The AUv3 format is useful because the instrument can sit alongside other parts in a compatible host. Its sound is shaped through the familiar work of building a synth patch, not by choosing a finished song arrangement. By our assessment, that makes it a focused creative tool with more character than a basic tone generator. The trade-off is that getting a sound beyond the presets takes some comfort with synthesis controls, and AUv3 use depends on having a compatible host. It is not a full production studio or a replacement for a broad collection of instruments. A finished patch still depends on the player’s choices of tone and performance.
