Montessori Visual Timer asks for attention, because a visual timer only works when the shrinking block of time stays in sight. By our assessment, that is also the point of the app: it gives children and adults a clear picture of time passing, which can be better than reading numbers on a clock face. The limitation is obvious too, since it is not trying to be a complex planner or a full classroom system. In practice these timers are calm tools, useful for transitions, short tasks, or keeping a session from running away. Montessori Visual Timer belongs in Productivity, and it makes the most sense where a simple visual cue is more helpful than a long list of settings.
