That kind of app is useful because it is simple and immediate, but it asks for attention, since the whole point is that you must follow the click instead of drifting. In practice it feels like a small no-nonsense timer with a musical purpose. Against larger practice apps it is the stripped-down option, and that is exactly why many players reach for it; the limit is that it only counts time and does not teach rhythm for you.
