Mango IRC

Mango IRC is an IRC client for people who still want live text chat rooms, custom servers, and the old-school pace of threaded conversation. By our assessment, it is strongest at the basic job of joining channels and keeping the chat layout plain, which is exactly what this kind of app should do. The trade-off is that IRC itself asks for setup and some patience, so the app will feel spartan if someone expects modern social features or polished feeds. In practice, that usually means server addresses, nicknames, and channel lists instead of glossy discovery pages. It sits well inside the small world of IRC clients rather than trying to imitate Discord or mainstream messenger apps, and the emphasis stays on text. Mango IRC makes the most sense for people who already know why IRC still matters, and it has little to offer to anyone wanting a guided social network with profiles and algorithms.
