MTBroutes

MTBroutes is a cycling app for riders who want route ideas on trails and off-road paths rather than city navigation. By our assessment, its value lies in the fact that it speaks the language of mountain biking, so the routes and planning are aimed at a very specific kind of ride. That focus is also the limit: if someone wants a broad maps app, this will feel specialized and probably too narrow. In practice these apps are about checking terrain, following a line and keeping the ride more organised than improvising from memory. MTBroutes sits in the niche between general maps and full training tools, and it does not try to be either of those. The fit is clear enough, but only for people who already care about that kind of route.
