From the outside, KATWARN may sound like another news app, but its purpose is to deliver warnings about local dangers rather than a general stream of headlines. It can relay alerts from participating authorities, including warnings about severe weather and other hazards, and location or area settings help make those notices relevant. By our assessment, that practical focus is more valuable than a broad news feed when a warning is the information someone needs.
