Impots.gouv is the French tax app for people who need to deal with income tax, notices and payments without going through paper forms. By our assessment, its real value is plain: it puts the tax authority’s main services in one official place, so users can check documents, pay what is due and follow their account. The downside is the same one all tax apps share: it only helps once you already know what the tax office is asking for, and it does not make the subject any lighter. In practice it feels formal and practical rather than friendly, which is exactly what most people expect from a government finance app. Compared with private finance apps, it is narrower and less polished, but it has the authority of the official channel. Impots.gouv is for handling tax business, not for general personal finance or budgeting.
