ISS Detector turns the station’s orbital path into chances to see it pass overhead, which is more practical than a live position map alone. It predicts visible passes and can alert users ahead of time, making it useful for casual skywatching as well as for people who already follow spaceflight. By our assessment, that focused job gives it a clear advantage over general astronomy apps when the goal is simply to spot the ISS. Pass predictions depend on a location, and clouds can still spoil an otherwise promising viewing opportunity. The phone needs location access to calculate when the station may be visible from where its user is.
