I Can Animate

I Can Animate promises movement rather than polish, which makes it appealing to beginners and casual creators who want simple animation tools. By our assessment, its real strength is the directness of that promise: it sounds like a tool for making drawings or characters move without dragging the user through a full studio setup. The downside is the same thing that makes it approachable, since animation tools of this sort can run out of depth once the work gets more serious. In practice, this category tends to be hands-on and a little repetitive, with timing, frames, and small adjustments doing most of the work. It sits below professional animation packages and above novelty drawing apps, so its usefulness depends on how far someone wants to go. The Astrina catalogue puts it under Photo & Video, which is a broad home for it, but the ceiling is in the word animate itself.
