Gus on the Go: l'Anglais is a language-learning app for children who need their first English words wrapped in games, sounds, and small tasks. By our assessment, it does a good job of keeping vocabulary practice playful, with bite-sized lessons instead of dense drills. The downside is the usual one for kids’ language apps: it can teach words and patterns, but it will not carry a learner far on its own. In use, it is the kind of app that asks for short, repeated visits, because the material is built around reinforcement. It sits above bare flashcard apps and below serious courseware, which makes its place in the middle very clear.
