Ghost Detect Investigator Pro leans on the familiar ghost-hunting fantasy: a spooky toy app for people who want a bit of paranormal atmosphere on a screen. By our assessment, that is also its best feature, because the name tells you exactly what kind of playful scare it is trying to sell. The downside is that this sort of app usually has little to offer beyond mood and gimmick, so once the novelty passes, there is not much depth left. In practice it is likely to be a few taps, some effects, and a lot of presentation. It sits with other entertainment apps that trade on mystery and haunted-house flavor rather than on real investigation. The Pro in the title sounds grander than the category usually is, and that mismatch is part of the appeal for casual use.
