DeRemote for Denon and Marantz is a remote-control app for owners of those AV and stereo systems who want the receiver functions on a phone instead of the front panel. By our assessment, its real appeal is practical control over volume, input switching, and other everyday amplifier tasks from the couch. The catch is that it only makes sense if the hardware is already there, and the app cannot be more than a control layer for it. In use, that means a tidy utility with menus that mirror the receiver rather than a flashy standalone experience. It sits between a universal remote and the manufacturer’s own control software, and that narrow middle is where it earns its keep. The ceiling is the gear in the room: no compatible Denon or Marantz setup, no point.
