Byword

Byword is a writing app for people who want a stripped-back place to draft text without a lot of buttons in the way. By our assessment, its main strength is the plain Markdown workflow, which keeps the focus on words instead of formatting clutter. The trade-off is that it stays intentionally lean, so anyone expecting rich layout tools or a full publishing suite will feel the ceiling quickly. In practice it tends to suit careful note-takers and writers who like a clean editor and little else. Compared with heavier word processors, Byword is closer to a calm text tool than an office all-rounder.
