Bass Chords and Scales is the sort of learning app people open when they want finger shapes, fretboard patterns and the basic logic behind bass playing. By our assessment, it is good at putting chord and scale material in one place, which makes it practical for drilling the shapes that bass players actually repeat. The downside is that this kind of app can only go so far, because real timing, tone and groove still have to be learned on the instrument. In use it feels like a reference and practice aid rather than a lesson plan, and Bass Chords and Scales sits below a tutor but above a blank notebook.
