BIG W

BIG W is the sort of retail app people open when they want a store catalogue, a shopping list and a quick look at what a big-box chain has on offer. By our assessment, its strongest point is breadth: it covers a wide, practical spread of general merchandise rather than trying to be precious about one niche. The limit is also the same one as many chain-store apps, because the experience depends on stock, store range and how much the local branch actually carries. In practice it feels like a companion to an ordinary shop visit, useful for browsing and planning more than for any clever digital trick. It sits with other mass-market retail apps rather than specialist shopping tools, and that is the right comparison. The app is most useful when the user already wants BIG W’s range and just needs it in one place.
