Aliens Motion Tracker is the kind of entertainment app that sells a gimmick straight away, usually through motion, sensors, or a fake-out interface that promises a bit of playful suspense. By our assessment, that is also its best quality: it can create a quick, silly effect with very little explanation. The limit is the same one most novelty apps run into, because the trick gets old once the user understands the pattern. In practice these apps are about short bursts of tapping, moving the phone around, and seeing what the visual hook does next. Aliens Motion Tracker is a novelty toy rather than a serious tool, and the whole experience depends on the joke landing.
