AMI Play

AMI Play is tied to in-car audio, so it makes sense for drivers who want a phone app to control music and radio features from the seat. The useful part is the bridge between mobile and dashboard use, which can keep playback and station selection in one place instead of splitting attention. By our assessment, that kind of setup is practical when it works with the car it was meant for. The downside is the obvious one for any car-linked app: it lives inside a hardware ecosystem, so it is only as useful as the supported vehicle and companion system. In practice that means pairing, menus, and a very specific setup rather than a general music library. Compared with a normal streaming app, AMI Play is narrower and more dependent on the car than on the phone itself. It matters most in the driver’s seat, where the controls are built around the vehicle, not around browsing.
