"No Distractions" for YouTube strips YouTube down to the video itself and cuts away the usual clutter around it, which is exactly why people open apps like this in the first place. By our assessment, its best use is for viewers who want the content without the feed, comments, and other attention traps that make the main site hard to keep simple. The downside is just as direct: once the extra surface is removed, there is less to browse and less to discover by accident. In practice that gives a calmer, more deliberate viewing loop, but it also means the app is not trying to be a full YouTube experience.
