Session Replay: Watch Real Visitor Sessions

What session replay shows you

Session replay records real visitor sessions and replays them as a video-like DOM playback. Instead of guessing what a chart means, you watch the actual session unfold: every scroll, click, hesitation, and misstep. It is the same idea you may know from Microsoft Clarity, built right into your Astrina dashboard.

Watching real sessions is the fastest way to catch problems that metrics only hint at:

• UX friction — the moments where people slow down or hesitate
• Rage clicks — repeated frustrated clicks on something that is not working
• Confusing steps — flows where visitors backtrack or get lost
• Drop-off points — exactly where visitors give up and leave

Privacy masking by default

Recording real sessions should never mean recording real people's data. Astrina masks text and form inputs by default, so you never capture sensitive information in the first place. You get to see how visitors move through your pages and where they struggle, without collecting the things they type.

Privacy is the default, not a setting you have to remember to turn on.

Sampling: record only what you need

You do not have to record everyone. With sampling, you choose what percentage of visitors are recorded. That keeps your replays focused and your storage lean — capture a representative slice of traffic rather than every single visit.

Under the hood, recordings are captured by an extra recorder script and stored gzipped in chunks, with a maximum of about 20 minutes per session. Recordings are kept for about 30 days, with longer retention available on Business per your plan's retention.

See why conversions fail

Session replay is powerful on its own, but it is at its best paired with conversion goals. Goals tell you that visitors are not converting. Replay tells you why. When a goal is missed, you can go back and watch what actually happened on the way there — the field that confused people, the button that felt broken, the step where they dropped off. That turns a flat conversion number into a concrete list of things to fix.

How to get started

Session replay is enabled per site, and the player lives inside your dashboard. To turn it on:

1. Open the site you want to record in your Astrina dashboard.
2. Enable session replay for that site.
3. Add the extra recorder script so sessions can be captured.
4. Choose your sampling percentage — the share of visitors you want to record.
5. Come back to the dashboard and open the player to watch recorded sessions.

Because replay is enabled per site, you can switch it on where you need the insight most and leave it off elsewhere.
