Growing Pet / Chelonian Egg

Growing Pet / Chelonian Egg is a novelty grow-in-water toy sold around the idea of a tiny creature hatching out of an egg, with the name pointing to a turtle or tortoise theme. By our assessment, it is the kind of cheap, simple desk toy that is bought for surprise rather than for depth, and that is exactly where its charm sits. The upside is obvious: there is a little ritual to it, and the object promises a change over time instead of being static from the start. The downside is just as obvious: these toys usually lean on novelty, not durability, and once the first reaction passes there is not much more to do. In practice it is the sort of thing people put in a bowl or cup and watch for a while, not a serious pet substitute. Compared with real educational kits or sturdier science toys, it is lighter and more disposable, and the name tells you not to expect much beyond the gimmick.
