An AC/DC ADAPTOR is the small bridge between a wall socket and whatever device needs the right kind of low-voltage power. By our assessment, it is good at exactly that boring but essential job: turning mains electricity into something a gadget can safely use, whether that gadget is a router, a pedal, a toy, or another piece of household hardware. The limit is equally clear, because one adaptor only works when its voltage, current, connector, and polarity match what the device expects, and the wrong match can be useless or worse. In practice it is the sort of object people ignore until they need a replacement, then care about connector shape and wattage more than anything else. Compared with USB charging bricks it is less universal, but for older or specialized equipment it is often the only thing that fits. The name says exactly what it does, and that plainness is the whole point.
