Olympus

Olympus is one of the better-known names in the DeFi corner of crypto, and that reputation comes from the idea it tried to build rather than from plain simplicity. By our assessment, it belongs to the ambitious end of the category: a protocol-token project that made people talk about treasury-backed money, bonding, staking, and a different kind of monetary design. The upside is that it was distinctive and influential enough to become a reference point for later experiments. The downside is that the same ambition makes it hard to explain cleanly, and the token model can feel far removed from ordinary use. In practice Olympus asks for patience and a fair bit of reading, because it is more about economic structure than about a simple payment coin. The limit is that its appeal depends on understanding the machinery behind it.
