Obsidian has the kind of name that makes a coin sound heavier than it is, and the cryptocurrency underneath it still has to do the ordinary crypto work. By our assessment, that means speculative holding, transfers between wallets, and the usual dependence on trust in the network rather than on any built-in everyday role. The upside is the same one crypto always promises: no bank in the middle. The downside is also familiar: price swings, key management, and the fact that a token does nothing by itself unless other people are willing to use it.
