Metis

Metis is the name most people will read as the native token of the Metis network, so it belongs to the side of crypto that tries to support an entire blockchain rather than act like a simple payment coin. By our assessment, that makes it more of an infrastructure asset: it is for fees, participation, and the general mechanics around a network rather than for everyday spending. The strength is that kind of role, because native tokens often sit at the center of activity and give a chain its own economic layer. The downside is that their value is tied closely to how much the network is actually used and trusted. In practice, that means it matters most to people already inside the Metis ecosystem, where the token has a clear job. Against larger Ethereum-adjacent ecosystems, Metis is much smaller and more specialized. It is not trying to be a universal coin, and the network context is what gives it any shape at all.
